GO—Serve the Lord

 Serving in Worship

Altar Guild

Our dedicated Altar Guild serves on a rotating schedule to care for the essential components of our worship space—from the delicate altar linens and shining brass to the candles and paraments. Their attention to detail ensures that every aspect of our church's sacred space is maintained with reverence and beauty. If you have attention to detail and would like to serve on this team, don't hesitate to get in touch with Janet Strebe at 920-982-6868 for more information.

Busy Bag Team

Busy Bag Organizers serve our youngest worshippers! These dedicated volunteers assemble Busy Bags for children, filled with coloring sheets, puzzles, small toys, and other quiet activities that help young children stay focused and entertained during worship. Volunteers select and rotate the age-appropriate activities seasonally and make sure bags stay clean and tidy. If you're interested in joining our Busy Bag team and making a positive impact on the lives of our youngest members, please contact Kate Tiefel.

Hospitality Servers

Become a Hospitality Server and contribute to a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our congregation. As a server, you'll prepare and serve coffee and refreshments, greet members and visitors with a friendly smile, and provide exceptional hospitality. If you enjoy interacting with people and have a passion for creating a welcoming environment, consider joining our Hospitality Team.

communion assistants

Holy Communion Assistants are men appointed by the congregation to assist the pastors in the administration of the sacrament of Holy Communion. They also inform the pastors of special circumstances regarding those who intend to receive the sacrament. As they serve in a way that is highly visible and a direct expression of pastoral care, they are held to a high standard of dignity and respect. If you're a male member of our congregation interested in serving in this important ministry, please contact our office for more information.

Greeter Team

Greeters show the love of Christ with their hospitality and care and make everyone feel like they are part of our church family. Greeters stand near entrances and hold the doors open, greeting worshippers, helping them find their way around the building, and anticipating their needs. If you are blessed with an outgoing personality, have the gift of hospitality, and enjoy meeting new people, this would be a great fit for you! This is a great opportunity for families to serve together. Children of all ages are invited to participate.

Worship Tech Team

This team runs media for worship. Volunteers ensure worship looks good and sounds good in person and online by managing projected visuals, radio station recordings, YouTube live streams, and sound. Worship Tech Assistants will complete simpler tasks such as advancing worship slides (8th-grade students and up). Worship Tech Leads will be trained on more complex tasks (students with advanced gifts or adults). Because this team requires a specialized skill set, Worship Tech Leads are paid a stipend for each service they assist. If you enjoy and have experience with technology, please consider serving on the Worship Tech Team.

Usher Team

Ushers offer a helping hand and make sure God’s house is ready for guests. They ensure worship runs smoothly by handing out bulletins, collecting and depositing offerings, lighting candles, ringing the bell, and counting attendance. If you have the gift of service, responsibility, and hospitality, this is a great spot for you. This is also a great place to serve those with health and safety expertise. Families can serve together! Older children aged 6th grade and up are especially invited to serve by themselves or with a family member.

Women Who Serve

Ladies Aid

The oldest organization at Emanuel is open to all women who are communicant members of the congregation. Their primary goal is to promote Christian fellowship through the Gospel and create opportunities to serve and support Emanuel and the community. They gather on the first Thursday of every month (except for July) at 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. The meetings include a devotion, business, and fellowship. All women are welcome to join and participate.

Ladies Evening Circle

The Ladies Evening Circle welcomes all adult women of Emanuel to their meetings. They gather on the first Monday of September through May at 6:00 PM in the church basement. The group's aim is to promote Christian fellowship and create opportunities for Christian service within Emanuel and the community. All women are invited to attend and participate in the meetings.

Women of His Word

Women of HIS Word strives to strengthen the body of Christ by offering women opportunities to grow spiritually, pray together, establish Christian relationships, and support one another in their Christian walk. The group's main objective is to encourage and build up women in their journey to serve Christ.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society

The Lutheran Women's Missionary Society (LWMS) is a group for ladies affiliated with WELS that provides education on world and home missions. Every woman in the congregation is automatically a member, and we hold meetings on the third Monday of September through May in Emanuel's Community Room at 1:00 PM. In addition, the Wolf River Circuit congregations host spring and fall rallies on a rotating basis.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
— Proverbs 31:30

Men Who Serve

Men of the Outdoors

The Men of the Outdoors is a group tailored for men who are enthusiastic about outdoor activities. It is not an organization or club, and there are no regular meetings or membership fees. Instead, we organize outdoor events and seek to spread the message of our Heavenly Father. Our mission and vision statements serve as our guiding principles.

Serving the Greater New London Community

Good Samaritan Food Collection

Emanuel Lutheran Church is partnering with the New London Community Cupboard to give meals to people who don't have enough to eat. You can bring food during the week when the office is open or on the weekends when there are worship services. If you prefer, you can donate money by dropping it off at the office or putting it in the collection plate. We appreciate your help in making New London a stronger community.

“The King will answer them, ‘Amen I tell you: Just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it for me.’” Matthew 25:40
